Welland Wado-Kai Karate Club Committees
5. Committees
5.1 General
The Welland Karate Clubs have seven committees which are responsible
for making decisions and setting the standards for the Clubs. ALL
students, regardless of their rank, are welcome to join any of the
committees other than the Executive Committee and the Grading Committee.
Please speak to your Sensei if you are interested. Remember, it is
your club too!
5.2 Executive Committee
This committee oversees all of the other committees. The Committee
members are Sensei Denis Labbé and Sensei Ron Mattie.
5.3 Grading Committee
This committee sets out the criteria for gradings and evaluations,
as well as scheduling and overseeing them. It is also responsible
for organizing the Welland Black Belt Workouts, which are held on
the first Tuesday of every month. The Chairperson of the Grading Committee
is Sensei Anne Readhead and the Committee members are, Sensei Alain
Bisier and Sensei Eddy Poulin.
5.4 Tournament Committee
This Committee is responsible for organizing and conducting the Sensei
Peter Ciolfi Wado-Kai Championship which is held each year. The Committee
members are Sensei Ron Mattie, Sensei Alain Bisier, Sensei Denis Labbé,
Sensei Anne Readhead, Sensei Eddy Poulin, Sensei Rick Rodrigue, Sensei
Janet Rodrigue,Sensei Rod Sumber, and Sensei Eric Sumbler.
5.4.1 Inter-club Tournament Sub-committee
This sub-committee is responsible for organizing and conducting the
quarterly inter-club tournaments. The Chairperson of this Subcommittee
is Sensei Anne Readhead and its member is Sensei Rod Sumbler.
5.5 Special Events Committee
This committee is responsible for organizing Karate events such as
demonstrations, clinics, guest speakers/instructors, seminars, special
workouts, and transportation to and from Tournaments and other events
as well as social events such as the Children's Christmas Party, summer
barbecues, trips, dances, and the Christmas Banquet. The Chairperson
of the Special Events Committee is Sensei Rod Sumbler and the Committee
members are Sylvie Sumbler, and Sensei Dean Brown
5.6 Fund-Raising Committee
This Committee is responsible for fund-raising for the Welland Clubs.
The Committee members are Sensei Eddy Poulin, Sensei Rod Sumbler and
Sensei Dean Brown
5.7 Advertising Committee
This committee is responsible for any advertising activities required
for the Welland Clubs. The Chairperson of this committee is Sensei
Mike Tarnawski.
